Golden Globes 2025: Nikki Glaser Gives Hollywood a Light Roast in Zinger-Filled Opening Monologue — Watch
The inevitability of famous folks’ scandals was the subject of host Nikki Glaser’s best barb during the comedian’s opening monologue at the 82nd Annual Golden Globes Sunday.
“Five years from now, when you’re watching old clips on YouTube, you’ll see someone in one of the crowd shots and you’ll go, ‘Oh my God, that was before they caught that guy!’” she joked.

“Like, we could be making history tonight, and we don’t even know with who.” She waited a beat. “He knows, you know. Or she! It could be a woman, you know. I think 100 percent of the time it’s a man? But it could be a woman. It won’t be. It never is.” Then, the final zing, as the crowd laughed loudly. “Kind of like Best Director.”
The evening marked Glaser’s first time hosting the awards show and the first time in history that a woman has emceed the broadcast solo. The ceremony aired live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on-demand/next day for Paramount+ Essential subscribers).

Days before the ceremony, Glaser said there was only one topic she definitely planned to avoid while on stage: Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s ongoing legal battles stemming from their film, It Ends With Us.
“I think the Blake Lively-Justin Baldoni thing is such a hot-button thing right now that even a mere mention of it will seem like I could be on the wrong side of things, even though I would never be,” she told Yahoo Entertainment. “I also don’t want to give his name any — I’m mad I even know his name, to be honest with you, so I don’t need to say it anymore.”
