Emily in Paris fans call out 'big problem' with the Netflix show: 'Beyond repair'
"The showrunners went for the second-oldest trick in the book," one Emily in Paris fan wrote.
Emily in Paris fans have called out a 'big problem' with the Netflix show, with some saying it's 'beyond repair'. Reddit users have pointed out that Camille (Camille Razat) has been done "dirty" by the showrunners, as it seems as though she's being made to be the villain when many believe Emily (Lily Collins) is a far worse character.
"Camille was my fav from the show (Sylvie too). Disappointed by season 3 doing her so dirty," one Reddit user said. "I want to see more of her. She was effortlessly chic, kind and generous."

They added, "I remember Camille was so easy going and non-judgy. [The show] is actively trying to turn her in a bad person. They could her given a layered character but this is lame of [the] writers."
Many others agreed, with one user writing, "I think that the show has a big problem. That problem is Emily. Over the course of the seasons, we see Emily be the worst time and time again. The problem with Emily is that she is beyond repair. You can't write her as a better person without completely demolishing her established character. She wouldn't be recognisable.
"So the showrunners went for the second-oldest trick in the book. They made someone else look worse. I think that pretty much describes what happened to Camille."
"Is Lily Collins funding this show?" the OP joked, with another responding, "She's the producer."
"Makes sense now," the OP quipped.
"At the risk of sounding like a biased fan… Emily never stood a chance in front of Camille (the OG Camille), don’t get me wrong they both are gorgeous but there is simply no match for Camille’s charm...plus the fact that Camille is a better person to be around than Emily 'main character' Cooper," a third commented. "So to make Emily tolerable, Camille is to be sacrificed."
"Emily lacks empathy and is selfish on top of being a hypocrite. She was my favourite at first soon turned me sour," another said.
'Terrible people'
In another thread, a similar sentiment about Camille being made into the "villain" was shared, with one Redditor saying, "I immediately adored Camille the minute she was introduced, and for 2 seasons she has been to be a supportive friend and trusting of Emily, who essentially screwed her over. I’m as much a fan as anyone of Darren Star's shows, but it’s ridiculous how hard they’ve pushed the narrative of Camille being a villain just to redeem Emily and Gabriel.
"Throughout season 3, you can see the change in her character through the common media interpretations - she’s significantly changed as a character to one who’s a complete opposite of her original one. Not to mention, her eyeliner had gotten way thicker, and her outfits make it clear that the writers wanted her to come off as a villain than the fresh faced girl who we met earlier."
They continued, "I watch the show, but I still have a lot of contempt for the two garbage main characters - Emily and Gabriel, and despite at a feeble attempt for redemption in Season 3, they continue to be dislikable. Unfortunately they had to throw Camille under the bus for it."
"They can NEVER make me hate Camille," another user commented. "And I’m with you. I can’t stand Emily and Gabriel. They deserve each other. Terrible people."
Where did season three of Emily in Paris end?
If you remember, season three had quite the cliffhanger ending, and (spoiler alert) a lot happened! In the final episode, Camille and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) are set to tie the knot, but she stops the ceremony, announcing she can't marry him because he and Emily (Lily Collins) have been in love since they met.
Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), Emily's boyfriend, dumps her and encourages her to pursue a relationship with Gabriel. As Emily finally tells Gabriel that, yes, it's true, she has always had feelings for him, he reveals that the reason he wanted to marry Camille was because she is pregnant with his baby. Not exactly what you hope to hear after declaring your love for someone, right?

No doubt there will be some big questions that need to be answered in season four, like: will Alfie return to London? Will Camille tell Gabriel about her relationship with Sofia (Melia Kreiling)? Will Gabriel get the Michelin star that he's been dreaming about with Emily's help? Will Mindy (Ashley Park) and her band go to Eurovision? Will Gabriel and Emily finally get back together?
When is Emily in Paris season 4 out on Netflix?
The first five episodes of Emily in Paris season four will be available to stream on Netflix on August 15 – not long to go now! The next five episodes will be available just under a month later, on September 12.
