Netflix fans in total 'shock' over behind-the-scenes footage of Stranger Things season 5
"Not emotionally ready but I do feel this season will be worth the wait," one Stranger Things fan said of the new season.
It's been two years since Netflix premiered the fourth season of Stranger Things, and fans have been begging for some kind of news about the fifth season for some time. Today, the streaming giant made viewers very happy after releasing a behind the scenes video, revealing the cast and crew are now halfway through filming the show's final season.
The video features most of the original stars, including Millie Bobby Brown, who shares that she was just 10 years old when she first started working on the show and is now 20 (and married!).
While season five doesn't have a release date, the SAG-AFTRA strike last year majorly delayed production, and it's looking like it'll be 2025 before we see what happens next in the town of Hawkins.

"This season – it's like season one on steroids," Matt Duffer told the Guardian. "It’s the biggest it’s ever been in terms of scale, but it has been really fun, because everyone’s back together in Hawkins: the boys and Eleven interacting more in line with how it was in season one. And, yes, there may be spin-offs, but the story of Eleven and Dustin and Lucas and Hopper, their stories are done here."
Maya Hawke, who plays Robin in the show, has also teased something fans will be very excited by, revealing on the Podcrushed podcast, "We're making, basically, eight movies," adding the episodes are "very long".
Fans react to Stranger Things' behind-the-scenes footage
Fans were quick to share their thoughts on the newly released footage, with one excited fan writing, "BEEN A FAN FOR SO LONG THIS IS MAKING ME CRY."
"Glad I am not alone!" another agreed.
"SAMEEEEEEEE like I'm not even joking – goosebumps," a third said, while a fourth added, "I'M HAVING TROUBLE BREATHING"
"I’m crying 😭😭❤️🔥 still can't believe this masterpiece series is coming to an end😭," one Instagram fan wrote.
"IF SOMETHING IS HAPPENS TO STEVE THEN I'M GONNA SEND MY MEDICINE BILLS TO NETFLIX," another said, referencing Joe Keery's character.
"I'm so emotional here I bet this is gonna be the best season can't really wait for this," another said.
"I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE I'LL HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE, I'M NOT READY 😭," one emotional viewer wrote.
"WHY I DO HAVE BREATHING PROBLEMS?! I AM IN SHOCK," another excitable fan said.
"Honestly, it's time," one Reddit user said in reference to it being the show's final season. "Yeah it's bittersweet that this is the final season but when you consider how Season 1 came out in 2016 it's kind of ridiculous that it's still going on. Yeah, the long delays weren't all the show's fault, but it's absolutely time to wrap this up."

"Only fitting that they uploaded this on the 8th anniversary of the release of Season 1, 15 July 2016 -> 15 July 2024," a third wrote.
"I just noticed that Eleven has long hair again? I thought Season 5 was going to continue right after the ending of Season 4," one fan noticed, but another quickly responded, "It’s rumoured there’s multiple time jumps happening actually."
