Disgruntled Emily in Paris Actor Lucas Bravo Will Appear in Season 5 (Report)

Gabriel will appear in the next season of Netflix’s Emily in Paris — despite the fact that portrayer Lucas Bravo recently grumbled to the press about his character having “slowly turned into guacamole.”

In fact, not only will Bravo be back when Emily in Paris begins filming Season 5 in May (in Paris France and Rome, Italy), Gabriel’s Michelin-rated Parisian restaurant will serve as one of the backdrops, sources tell our sister site Variety.

Netflix declined to comment on Bravo’s Season 5 inclusion, when reached by TVLine.

In an October interview with IndieWire, Bravo had said, “The ‘sexy chef’ was very much part of me in Season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take. As they made him kind of unaware of his surroundings, of the dynamic, always victimizing and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone, it kind of became not fun for me to shoot, or to see a character I love so much and brought me so much, being slowly turned into guacamole. I really grew apart from him.”

The French actor said he tried to work with what he was given, but “we don’t have much liberty on set.” (A source told Variety that Bravo never raised his issues directly with series creator Darren Star, “who would have been open to discussing the matter.”)

“We cannot change a word or an emotion” in the script, Bravo told IndieWire. “They know what they want and we just have to comply. It makes me question if I want to be part of Season 5… because my contract ends at Season 4. I really want to see if Gabriel gets back to his fun, cheeky, playful, alive self. Because three seasons playing melancholic, sad, depressed, and lost is not fun anymore.”

The same Variety report claims that Emily in Paris Season 5 will not only film in Paris and Rome, but maybe also a “third chic international destination.”
