Demi Moore Nods to ‘The Substance’ Character in Schiaparelli Dress With Lace-up Back at Critics Choice Awards 2025

Demi Moore served a glamourous approach to method dressing at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards on Friday in Santa Monica, Calif. The actress, who was nominated as Best Actress for her work in “The Substance,” wore a dress from Schiaparelli‘s fall 2024 collection that featured a lace-up back closure, nodding to Moore’s character’s back stitches in the film.

The strapless navy gown featured a sweetheart neckline embellished with black crystals. The lower portion of the dress featured intricate straps running vertically from approximately knee height to the floor, creating a ladder effect.

Brad Goreski styled Moore for the occasion. Goreski and Moore have a longtime relationship. They worked together during the entire press tour of “The Substance,” which saw the actress in looks by Loewe, Chanel, Bach Mai, Oscar de la Renta, Balenciaga, Giorgio Armani Privé and Tom Ford, among others. In January, for the 2025 Golden Globes, he styled her in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé dress embellished with Swarovski crystals.

At this year’s Critics Choice Awards, Moore was nominated against Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”), Karla Sofía Gascón (“Emilia Pérez”), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (“Hard Truths”), Angelina Jolie (“Maria”) and Mikey Madison (“Anora”).

Moore has already won a Satellite Award and a Golden Globe as Best Actress for her work as Elisabeth Sparkle in “The Substance.”

The 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards takes place on Friday, broadcasting live on E! from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The ceremony, originally scheduled for Jan. 12 and then Jan. 26, was postponed due to catastrophic wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Chelsea Handler returns as host for the third consecutive year, leading the star-studded event that celebrates the most outstanding achievements in film and television for 2024.
