Cynthia Erivo Commands Attention in Shiny Black Armani Gown With Hand-embroidered Crystals at Critics Choice Awards 2025
Cynthia Erivo went all black for the 2025 Critics Choice Awards on Friday in Santa Monica, Calif. The actress, who was nominated as Best Actress for her work in “Wicked,” wore a black Giorgio Armani Privé gown with patent effect on the red carpet.
Erivo’s dress featured crystal micro edging and hand-embroidered camellias finished in crystals and beading. She accessorized with dangling diamond earrings and sported her signature stiletto nails with white nail polish for added contrast.

Jason Bolden styled Erivo for the occasion. Bolden collaborated with Erivo during the entire press tour of “Wicked,” with the actress often embracing method dressing in looks by Louis Vuitton, Carolina Herrera, Salon 1884, Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs, among others.
This awards season, Erivo has worn a sculptural Louis Vuitton dress for the 2025 Golden Globes and another custom look from the brand for the 2025 Grammy Awards red carpet. Erivo has been a Louis Vuitton ambassador since March. The actress has also worn dresses from Erdem, Loewe and Moschino.
Ariana Grande, who costars in “Wicked” with Erivo, was also nominated for a Critics Choice Awards this year in the Best Supporting Actress category.
The 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards takes place on Friday, broadcasting live on E! from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The ceremony, originally scheduled for Jan. 12 and then Jan. 26, was postponed due to catastrophic wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Chelsea Handler returns as host for the third consecutive year, leading the star-studded event that celebrates the most outstanding achievements in film and television for 2024.
