The price of city living has tempted many of us to seek a sea change or a tree change, but have you ever considered a vault-change?

Vault living might seem like a futuristic concept, but it may become a reality for some Aussies.

Real estate agent Gavin Rubinstein from Prime Video's Luxe Listings Sydney has just shown people round Vault 33, a real life vault built underneath Sydney's Martin Place.

The idea has been inspired by Amazon Prime Video's hit series Fallout, which sees an apocalyptic event push humans underground to live in high density "vaults".

Based on the popular video game of the same name, the drama follows the lives of people who live underground - and what happens when they have to return to the world above.

The show is one of the streaming channel's most watched titles ever and appears to have struck a chord with viewers.

"In a property market defined by scarcity, digging down (quite literally) rather than up and out may just be the long-term and sustainable answer to Australian future living," Rubinstein said.

Vault 33 contains intimate living and dining spaces, boasts imaginative interiors and generous "outdoor" areas including AstroTurf, a hydroponic veggie patch and plenty of entertaining room.

Life inside the vault includes all the creature comforts of a normal home, while protecting you from any potential perils of life above ground.

Vault 33 has access to cutting-edge Triple-S technology — safety, survivability and sanitation — making sure anyone who lives there is totally safe.

In Fallout, in order to be a Vault Dweller and a successful part of the Vault-Tec community, you need specific attributes, deemed as S.P.E.C.I.A.L. That's Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck.

Although Vault 33 was only open for public viewing for one day, it may only be a matter of time before places like this are actually available for prospective homeowners to buy - if of course, you are S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

Fallout is available to stream exclusively on Prime Video. All episodes of season one are available right now with season two on the way.

The Prime Video app is available to download on compatible iOS and Android devices as well as game consoles, smart TVs and streaming media players.
