Chris Hemsworth divides fans with controversial Christmas post: 'Really?'
The actor's Elf on the Shelf video has sparked a debate online.
Chris Hemsworth has sparked controversy and divided fans on social media with a seemingly innocent post celebrating Christmas. The Thor actor, who shares three children with his wife Elsa Pataky, posted a video on Wednesday showing what their three Elf on the Shelf toys had done to their bathroom.
Elf on the Shelf is a holiday tradition where a mischievous elf plays hide-and-seek around the house each day in the lead-up to Christmas, often making a mess or doing something inappropriate. Chris’ video shows one elf lying in the bathroom sink covered with flour, while another is on the bench surrounded by toilet paper.
The third elf is sitting on the toilet seat and the bowl has been filled with Froot Loops, complete with a spoon in the middle of the cereal mound.

“Merry Christmas everyone, just want to say keep your eyes peeled because the elves have done it again,” Chris said in the video. “Look at them. Cheeky little buggers, they’re everywhere. Stay sharp.”
Why were fans outraged?
While most fans enjoyed the “silly” video and the effort Chris and Elsa had put into making their children’s Christmas special, one follower was seemingly outraged by the food wastage.
“Really Chris? Kids literally starving and you are wasting what America calls food and it’s in the toilet?” they wrote.
The comment has since received over 45 likes, however, many people took to the comments to defend Chris and argue that the prank was “harmless”.
“Oh goodness me, since when is it a crime to play with your children with the naughty elves? Get a life!” one person wrote, while another added, “GTFO of here with this crap! Please find something to do!”.
“How dare he enjoy Christmas,” a third remarked, followed by someone else who said, “Really? You even had to comment, do you even know who he may donate to? Get a grip let him & his family enjoy Xmas!”.
“There are not a lot of moments these days that can be observed as pure fun. Let the elves enjoy Christmas. I guarantee you that the donations this family makes to help others far outweigh the Froot Loops in the bowl,” a different user replied.
Others also pointed out that it appears they had used cling wrap under the toilet seat so the entire bowl wasn’t actually filled with cereal.
Chris and Elsa come under fire for new family member
Chris’ post comes shortly after he and Elsa announced earlier this month that his family had adopted an adorable German Shepherd puppy. While they didn’t reveal the name of the dog, Elsa posted a series of photos cuddling up to their new pet.
"Our new member of the family, a beautiful German Shepherd,” she captioned the post. “Thanks @capaill_coloured_gsd_australia we are completely in love!”

Many fans commented on how cute their new addition is, however, some people had a problem that the couple went through a breeder and not through an adoption or rescue centre.
“At the moment, there are people dumping and surrendering dogs in precedent numbers,” Kerrin Lee from Jades Dog Rescue NSW told Yahoo Lifestyle. “Pounds and rescues are inundated. It is a constant battle to find dogs' homes with no resolution in sight.
“Adopting a dog from a pound or from a rescue will save one more dog from death. Thousands of unwanted dogs are killed every year. We always promote adopt don’t shop, but we also understand that not everyone wants to adopt a rescue dog.”
