Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky under fire for new family member: 'No resolution in sight'
Fans aren't happy with Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky's decision surrounding their new dog.
Chris Hemsworth's wife Elsa Pataky has taken to Instagram to show off their adorable new addition to the family. The celeb pair have added a very cute German Shepherd puppy to their brood, but not everyone is happy about the announcement.
"Our new member of the family, a beautiful German Shepherd," Elsa, 48, captioned the post. "Thanks @capaill_coloured_gsd_australia we are completely in love!"
Elsa showed off the new puppy, who she didn't reveal the name of in a series of images, cuddling up to the dog. While many fans commented on how cute their new addition is, some people had a problem that the star couple went through a breeder and not through an adoption or rescue centre.
"At the moment, there are people dumping and surrendering dogs in precedent numbers," Kerrin Lee from Jades Dog Rescue NSW told Yahoo Lifestyle. "Pounds and rescues are inundated. It is a constant battle to find dogs' homes with no resolution in sight."

"Adopting a dog from a pound or from a rescue will save one more dog from death. Thousands of unwanted dogs are killed every year," Kerrin continued. "We always promote adopt don’t shop, but we also understand that not everyone wants to adopt a rescue dog."
Fans react to the Hemsworth family's new addition
While many fans called the photos 'adorable' and professed their love for the pup, quite a few came in with comments about adopting, not shopping.
"Dog lovers make it our business to spread the word of the RIGHT thing to do. Adopt, always!!!" one person commented."Elsa adopt, do not accept kennel, or breed dogs," someone else said.
"What rescue was he adopted from, as surely you wouldn’t have purchased off a breeder!" another commented.

Speaking about the reaction to the Hemsworths' new puppy, Kerrin told Yahoo Lifestyle, "First of all I think people need to not sit in judgment so easily.
"Of course, it would have been great if they had rescued a dog, but it is their choice whether to rescue or to buy from a breeder."
