Channel Nine worried MAFS producers have gone too far: 'Could be the last season'
Insiders reveal to Yahoo Lifestyle why next year could be the last MAFS season.
A TV insider has revealed that Channel Nine is worried the MAFS producers have gone too far as they film the 2025 season. With a cast that is "off the rails", our source tells Yahoo Lifestyle, "This could easily be the very last season of Married At First Sight if the 2025 cast don't stop acting like brats!"
Channel Nine's flagship show has never been afraid of controversy, but the way filming has unfolded over the last few months, insiders can confirm that "what goes down might be too bonkers even for MAFS viewers to connect with."
Channel Nine is worried, and with The Block axing their casting director, insiders confirmed that a new approach to casting MAFS could also be in the works.

MAFS 2025 producers frantically searching for 'replacement cast' as filming begins
"We have encountered the most 'walkouts' and couples refusing to film," the insider reveals. "It is 1000 per cent looking like a circus of a series."
"The show works if you can relate to what you are seeing on screen and as long as the themes all centre around everyday Australians and their dream to find love - it doesn't matter if there are a few drinks thrown along the way."
"You don't want the drama to outweigh the hope and aspirational qualities this can bring, a source at Nine says.
'Created a monster'
However, the 2025 season cast members have all proven their hearts are not in the right place and have been focused on creating the most dramatic storylines.
"I'd say the choice to find tried and tested 'attention seekers' has backfired," the insider says. "The casting this year was quite specific, they were looking for people who were hungrier for fame than in other years. However, what they have done is created a monster – lots of 'monsters'."
"They have a former Big Brother housemate, an ex Bachie girl and a Neighbours actor just to name a few," they added, referencing Teejay Halkias, Sierah Swepstone and Jeff Gobbels. "It is like they have circled back to find people who are familiar with TV. They have all come with egos and with ulterior motives."
A source on set added that casting people who have previously been on reality TV has been the biggest problem for the series, "Their egos are disproportionate to their talent. Sierah from The Bachelor is the perfect example of why not to repurpose talent."
"Sierah was too busy trying to control her edit that she ended up coming across as boring and hard to manage - that really disappointed the producers.

"The contestants' egos are out of control," the insider added. "They don't want to listen to producers and they have become quite unmanageable. The hardest part is making a comprehensive story out of the mess that has been filmed" - as most of the couples have struggled to find genuine connections.
"It is often the case that there are a couple of participants that are a little unruly but this is off the charts," a source close to the participants reveals.
