After growing speculation that Sophie Monk would not be hosting the next season of Love Island Australia, Yahoo Lifestyle can exclusively confirm Sophie will be back in hosting duties for the sixth series, after mounting rumours that Skye Wheatley was going to take over the role.

Sophie has been hosting the show since it started in 2018 and while she once touted it the "best job" she's ever had, reports started circulating last week that the reality star wouldn't be back for the 2024 season, with 7News' Inside Media column reporting I'm A Celebrity star Skye Wheatley was in contention for the role.

In a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle, Nine confirmed Sophie would be back for the next season of Love Island as its host. It's also been rumoured that Sophie is being considered to host new Channel Nine show The Floor, a format that launched in the Netherlands in 2023 and has since been picked up in 14 other countries, including America. However, Yahoo Lifestyle also understands Channel Nine had their eye on Rodger Corser for the show after Channel 10 show The Traitors wasn't renewed for a third season, with confirmation on hosting duties to be confirmed at the network's upcoming Upfronts.

However, on social media Skye addressed the speculation and rumours by posting this TikTok.

The sixth season of Love Island Australia is set to film in the backend of 2024, with a source telling Yahoo Lifestyle earlier this year that the show was 'spoilt' when it came to applications.

“Insiders can confirm that Channel Nine was spoilt for choice with applicants for the Australian franchise. Aussie hopefuls really understand the brand,” says our source.

“They say this every year but the auditions are going extremely well and there are some personalities that audiences will talk about for years.”

A former Love Island Australia contestant is also tipped to appear on the upcoming season of the reality dating show in a brand new role. A production insider told Yahoo Lifestyle back in June that Channel Nine is close to signing a deal with Callum Hole to return to the franchise following his appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, where he finished in third place.

The Welsh-born reality star rose to fame on season four of Love Island Australia in 2022 before competing on the show’s international spin-off Love Island Games last year.
