Western Australia has some of Australia's most breathtaking beaches, with one in particular featuring at the top of many people's bucket lists. While it might not sound like it from its name, Hellfire Bay has to be one of the most stunning places to visit – and you can camp at the nearby Lucky Bay for just $20 per person.

The beach has been labelled by campers as "one of the most beautiful beaches" in Australia. The beautiful blue water surrounded by white sand is absolutely stunning, so it's not hard to see how it earned this title among Aussies and one travelling couple tells Yahoo Lifestyle what makes Hellfire Bay so special.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, Jaiden and Summer, who go by @trekn.withjs on Instagram and TikTok and are travelling around the country, said, "From the moment we walked down on the footpath to the beach we were met with the most crystal clear water we have ever seen, we looked at each other and thought, 'Holy smokes, is this place even real?'"

The pair described the spot as a must-visit, adding it certainly lived up to the "hype". They said, "We found Hellfire bay better than Lucky Bay as it was the most ideal conditions due to South East Winds."

While Jaiden and Summer only managed to stay one night due to it being high season, they recommend travellers stay "at least three nights". While it was peak season the pair add that it still wasn't too busy to put them off, but they add that it's important to book your spot in advance.

The pair shared the activities that they recommend, telling us, "Explore and swim at all surrounding beaches, climb Frenchman’s peak, tackle the kilometres of trails by foot or bike that link up all surrounding beaches, fishing (on land or by boat), surfing (swell dependent), coffee on the beach, and find the local wildlife."

Speaking about the campground, Jaiden and Summer shared that they really enjoyed their time there, saying, "The hot showers at the National Park campground was such a novelty, the short walk access to the beach from the campground, the cleanliness of the facilities, the hot water in the kitchen to wash up, the large campsites, and the camp host was lovely.

"What could be better? All gas hot plates in kitchen facilities weren’t working (gas stoves were working) but it wasn’t the end of the world as we had our own gas cooker hotplate."

Thankfully, they also added that the "roads are fantastic and easy for a 2WD and caravan".

Similarly, another travelling couple, Kieran and Emma, who go by @ouraustravels_ on Instagram, tells Yahoo Lifestyle of Hellfire Bay, "It’s one of many beautiful beaches in Cape Le Grand National Park, but often gets overlooked for the more popular and well-known Lucky Bay. Which is why we think it’s so special, because it’s arguably nicer than Lucky Bay!

Hellfire Bay is located in the protected bounds of Cape Le Grand National Park, so there is a park fee of $17 per vehicle with 12 people or fewer. Those looking to camp can stay at Lucky Bay, which costs $20 a night for adults, $15 for concession and $5 per child.

In terms of facilities, there is no drinking water provided, but there are flushing toilets, showers, gas barbecues, dishwashing sinks, food preparation surfaces, picnic tables and benches.

Sadly, for those with fur babies, dogs are not permitted.

Fans of Hellfire Bay have shared their stories of visiting the beautiful spot on Facebook, with one user writing, "The first time I laid eyes on Hellfire I thought I had died & gone to heaven. Did you checkout Little Hellfire? We had the beach all to ourselves a couple years ago. Esperance is a beautiful place all round!"

"Definitely the best...but shhhh, let the tourists think the best is Lucky Bay," another joked.

Some also compared the white sand to Jervis Bay's Hyams Beach, while others were sad to learn it's not pet-friendly.

"It's on my bucket list to visit one day," one person said.

"All Esperance beaches are the best in Australia they are stunning," another added.
