When you're taking a well-deserved holiday, there's nothing quite like enjoying a cheeky sundowner as the day comes to an end. Whether you're throwing back mocktails by the pool or sinking beers at a barbeque with mates, vacation drinks just taste better.

For scores of Aussies, the holiday fun continues year-round as more and more people opt for a life on the road in their caravan. But even if you are on a short-term trip in your van, there is the problem of how and where to store your glassware when you are driving between destinations to avoid ending up with a pile of broken tumblers.

This was a dilemma recently put to a popular online caravanning group as one person asked "Could you show me how you store glassware in a van?"

Among the many answers, one of the most popular responses was a $5 product from Kmart that people swore by.

"I wrap mine in this and then store it in one of the cupboards between things," one person said, sharing a photo of the Multi-Purpose Liner from the budget retailer. "One is in the box it came with wrapped with this. Never had any issues."

"Just on a non-slip mat doesn’t move," another person agreed.

"Just in the cupboard on a non-slip mat. Have never had a breakage," a third said.

The non-slip matting was the hero of another glassware conversation in a different group where someone asked what the best way to store glass jars and bottles was.

"I have a pull out pantry, in which I have them sitting in plastic tubs, but they are still clinking together," they lamented.

Once again, the nifty $5 Kmart find was touted as the hero product needed to fix the problem.

"Non-slip matting wrapped around middle but rubber band around - do the same with wine & port bottles," one person suggested.

"A roll of the non slip matting from Kmart," another said.

"Non-slip matting works great!," a third enthused.

Aside from the non-sip mat, there was another Kmart item that got quite a bit of love in the group chats - these Linen Look Adjustable Drawer Organiser which sells for $6.50.

Some people shared photos of their cups and glassware neatly tucked into the little squares, with one person writing, "I use these from Kmart, actually a clothes organiser but great for cups and glasses" while another noted you can purchase a similar product from Bunnings.

Surprisingly (or not) another popular answer to the glassware problem was about as Aussie as it gets.

"Stubby holders are good for glasses," someone threw in.

"In stubby coolers," another said while another said, "I stick them in stubby holders and stuff a towel over them so stop movement."

And, in the most Aussie comment of all, one legend wrote, "Buggered stubby coolers are a great tool for packing as well."
