Cameron Diaz was totally chill with leaving Hollywood, and now, a decade later, she’s totally chill with coming back. That effortlessly glamorous laid-back attitude we know and love about her was apparent in her fit as she attended the Berlin premiere of her movie Back in Action on Wednesday, walking her first red carpet in five years.
Up top, Cameron went full movie star in a transparent black pussy-bow blouse layered under a sweeping black Gucci monogram coat, accented with dangly gold-and-purple earrings and a bright-red lip. But for the bottom half of her fit, she kept things California cool via some slouchy dark-blue barrel jeans and comfy black leather loafers.
She posed on the carpet with her co-star Jamie Foxx, who wore a fun black-and-white-striped suit look and chunky black shoes that looked like Tesla Cybertrucks.
In Back in Action, Cameron and Jamie play retired CIA spies turned parents Emily and Matt, who are pulled back into espionage after their secret identities are exposed. The action comedy, which comes out tomorrow, January 17, is Diaz’s first movie since 2014’s Annie, which she also starred in with Foxx. The longtime friends and collaborators first worked together in the 1999 sports drama Any Given Sunday, and the rest is history.
Speaking to Empire about her sporadic return to the big screen, Diaz admitted she only did it because Foxx was involved. “Seriously. I had other opportunities along the way, and I was always saying, ‘No. I’m not doing it, I’ve told you... What? Jamie asked? Jamie? Oh, I can do a movie with Jamie!’ ” she said.
Diaz spent the last 10 years building a family and a life with husband Benji Madden (whom she married in January 2025), as well as cultivating her own organic-wine brand, Avaline, with friend Katherine Power. The wine project has done quite well, and Bazaar.com even spoke to Diaz about it—and about Hollywood—in 2022. “My life is just completely different than when I was making movies,” she said at the time. It’s “a lot less travel, a lot more sleep, my skin’s clearer because I don’t have so much makeup on all the time.”
She declined to announce a return to acting at that time, and in her recent chat with Empire, she revealed she isn’t sure she’s back in it for the long run. Rather, she’s letting the pieces fall where they may. “If I say it, then it becomes this thing. I reserve the right to say no to doing a movie ever again, and I reserve the right to say yes if I decide to,” Diaz told the outlet. “I’m not defining anything. I’m just open to whatever makes sense for me and my family at any given moment.”
