Seth Meyers Responds To Donald Trump's Middle-Of-The-Night Attack With Perfectly Subtle Burn

Seth Meyers delivered a pointed response to a middle-of-the-night rant about him from Donald Trump, but without mentioning the president-elect by name.

Trump in the early hours of Tuesday ranted on his Truth Social platform about “Marble Mouth Meyers” being “dumb and untalented” and “merely a slot filler for the Scum that runs Comcast.”

On Wednesday’s “Late Night,” host Meyers began by warning fans of controversial Trump defense secretary pick Pete Hegseth that he was about to crack some gags about the former Fox News personality.

“You might be saying, ‘Seth, why would a Pete Hegseth fan be watching your show?’ Fair point,” Meyers acknowledged.

Then came the burn of the returning president:

“It has come to my attention that sometimes people who do not care for me get stuck watching my show. And to those people, I would just say, ‘You have my sympathy, and I hope you get a TV soon that allows you to change the channel.’”

Meyers’ audience lapped up the line.

“Moving on,” Meyers continued, turning his attention to Hegseth’s confirmation hearing.

Meyers has been a yearslong critic of Trump and his roast of the then-reality TV personality at the 2011 White Correspondents’ Association dinner has been hyped by some commentators as the reason that Trump decided to enter politics seriously.

Trump’s vocal dislike of the comedian’s criticism of him also goes back years.
