A 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Reboot Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar Is in the Works
The Hellmouth is open once more! Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which ended its original, seven-season run more than 20 years ago, is readying a comeback. Deadline reports that a revival series is "nearing a pilot order from Hulu, with Sarah Michelle Gellar expected to star, reprising her signature role as Buffy Summers." It remains to be seen if the rest of the "Scoobies" will join Gellar as she aims to take on more elements of the supernatural, including the titular creatures of the night.
According to the outlet, the pilot, written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman (Poker Face), would be directed by Chloé Zhao, the Oscar-winning director of Nomadland and a famous Buffy fan.
