Brooke Shields and Rowan Henchy, 21, Get Matching Arm Tattoos for the New Year: 'Mother-Daughter Bonding'
Matt Gutierrez of East Side Ink shared photos of the pair getting their new tats, which is a phrase written in Rowan’s handwriting
Brooke Shields and her daughter Rowan Henchy have a permanent bond.
The mother-daughter duo kicked off their year by getting matching ink together at New York City tattoo parlor East Side Ink.
On Jan. 4, Rowan, who’s Shields' oldest daughter with husband Chris Henchy, took to her Instagram Stories with a photo of their new ink, which is located on their forearms and reads “and to a party,” a phrase she wrote herself in script.
“Mother-daughter bonding,” Rowan, 21, captioned the post, which her model mom reposted with the caption, “Another matching tattoo with my bug.”

Tattoo artist Matt Gutierrez shared behind-the-scenes photos of the two’s session. His carousel includes close-up photos of their tattoos and a photo of the Blue Lagoon star lying down seemingly after getting inked, Rowan smiling right next to her.
In his post’s caption, Gutierrez admitted that he “didn’t recognize" Shields and Rowan when they first came into their appointment. He added that he only realized who his clients were after completing his work.
“Sometimes it is important not to recognize the character, but to know the person. Today I had the opportunity to meet both of them (they make a good team). Thanks for the patience, trust, laughter, confidence and tranquility,” he wrote.
He added: “I will remember tattooing them, the pain of sticking the stencil a thousand times, some of the most difficult handwriting (by: Rowan) and with a photo that for me as a person and professional is very important — and for my family even more (they so admire you).”

Shields and Rowan already have matching ladybug tattoos they got in June 2021 in celebration of the latter’s high school graduation. They paid a visit to Stefano's Tattoo Studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to get their dainty designs, which Shields got on her wrist while Rowan got hers on her ankle.
"A special graduation gift and memory with my girl. I'm so proud of you, I love you more than words can say," Shields wrote on Instagram.
The Commence founder and Mother of the Bride star also has tattoos with her younger daughter Grier, whom she also shares with Henchy.
In May 2024, they got tattooed together by Scoot Campbell before Grier, 18, headed off to study at North Carolina’s Wake Forest University, where Rowan also goes to school.

On the Stupid Things for Love podcast, Shields revealed the special meaning behind the art.
"When she was little, she would always just wear my shoes," Shields shared of her youngest. "And a whole foot would fit into the toe box of my pumps. Yeah, and [she'd] go into my closet and come out and have breakfast in her diaper and high heels."
"And it was just the cutest thing to see this diaper-clad baby or nude signing a song," the proud mom added. "And so when we were looking, she found this picture of a woman's high-heel, where you can tell the mom's [foot] filled the whole shoe. And then toe to toe, the kid is in the shoe. But the foot only goes into the front and there's a big gap in the back."
