Backless Dresses Were Trending on the Golden Globes 2025 Red Carpet: Miley Cyrus, Nicole Kidman and More

Backless silhouettes were popular among attendees of the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles. Stars including Nicole Kidman, Kylie Jenner and Miley Cyrus sported sultry gowns by the likes of Balenciaga and Celine, among others.

Nicole Kidman

Kidman’s crystallized Balenciaga couture featured an asymmetrical neckline. The “Babygirl” star accessorized with a diamond-encrusted Omega timepiece. Stylist Jason Bolden, who also dresses Cynthia Erivo and Cara Delevingne, dressed Kidman for the occasion.

Makeup artist Gucci Westman gave her brown eyeshadow and sculpted cheekbones, while hairdresser Adir Abergel styled Kidman’s strawberry blond tresses in a 1960s-inspired half-updo.

Kylie Jenner

Jenner’s silver chainmail Versace gown featured floral embroidery. The Khy founder attended the 2025 Golden Globes in support of her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, who stars in the Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown” alongside Elle Fanning and Monica Barbaro.

Anya Taylor-Joy

Taylor-Joy modeled a pink backless Dior slipdress featuring a cowl neckline, which was plucked from the French fashion house’s archives. She added on an embroidered fringe shawl, completing her look with Jimmy Choo sandals and a floral set of diamond- and opal-encrusted jewelry.

The “Furiosa” star was styled by Ryan Hastings, who also counts Ryan Gosling and Natalie Portman as clients.

Eiza González

Eiza González wore a glittering gold Gucci gown with a round neckline, column skirt and crystal embellishments. The actress was assisted by Elizabeth Saltzman, who’s also known for dressing Sandra Oh and Julia Garner.

Miley Cyrus

Cyrus modeled a black Celine by Hedi Slimane gown with criss-cross straps, crystal embellishments and geometric cutouts along the bodice. She also added on lambskin sandals and rectangular frames by the French label. The singer was styled by her longtime stylist Bradley Kenneth, who she’s worked with for the past decade.

Cara Delevingne

Delevingne wore a custom blue Gucci halter gown that featured crystal embellishments along the neckline. She accessorized her metallic sequined frock with diamond-encrusted drop earrings.

The 2025 Golden Globes ceremony celebrates over eight decades of honoring entertainment excellence. Broadcast on CBS and hosted by Nikki Glaser, this year’s event featured 27 categories, including drama, comedy and limited series.
