How Nicole Kidman’s ‘70s Goddess Makeup Came Together for the 2025 Golden Globes
The ‘Babygirl’ star glowed like it was golden hour thanks to makeup artist Gucci Westman.
There’s no denying that Nicole Kidman’s bombshell bouffant ponytail was a show-stopper at last night’s Golden Globes. But that wasn’t all the Babygirl star, nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama had in store on the beauty front. Above her sleek, backless Balenciaga gown, her makeup gave sun-kissed ‘70s with a dose of Elvira Hancock in Scarface.
“A few things went through my mind when I first saw her dress–it was a ‘70s feeling, but not too literal,” her makeup artist, Gucci Westman, tells InStyle exclusively. “I liked the peachy tones of the dress and was inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface. Glamorous, but not too specific!”
In crafting Kidman‘s makeup look, it was all about dusk-toned colors to make her look like a “peachy rose goddess dipped in radiance,” says Westman. And the timing was fitting, considering that today, Westman Atelier is launching their best-selling shade, Petal, a gorgeous dusty rose, in three new formats, including her Lit Up Highlight Stick and Squeaky Clean Liquid Lip Balm, which she used on Kidman for the evening.
“Petal can either be used on its own to add a rosiness to the complexion—lip, cheek, whenever you want to place it—or it can also be used as a finishing color as well, like I did with Minette on Nicole’s look,” explains Westman.
For a flushed glow, Westman blended Baby Cheeks Blush Stick in peachy Minnette and dusty rose Petal along Kidman‘s cheekbones. “The color I used on her cheeks tied into her eyes and lips— it was peachy, rosy, bronzy throughout the look,” says Westman. And for the final touch? “I used more mascara than I usually would on both the top and bottom lashes,” she adds. An important—and very Elvira—touch!
The soft, glowing makeup was a fresh counterpoint to Kidman‘s va-va-voom bouffant, perfected by hairstylist Adir Abergel with supersized extensions, lots of Virtue Labs Volumizing Primer, and a slick of Healing Oil for high-shine polish. Needless to say, Kidman looked as jaw-dropping as ever as she came out swinging for her Babygirl awards season.
