Bachelorette star Darvid responds to rumours he's the 2022 Bachelor

Almost one month after his break-up with Brooke Blurton, Bachelorette star Darvid Garayeli has opened up about his reality TV experience and his future plans.

The 27-year-old formed an instant connection with Brooke on the show, where he received the first date and ultimately the final rose, yet the pair called it quits just a few weeks after the season finished airing.

Darvid shocked fans when he posted an Instagram Story the day after Brooke’s 27th birthday earlier this month revealing that they had “parted ways”, adding that there were “a lot of lessons learned”.

Brooke released her own statement shortly after and admitted that she was blindsided by Darvid’s post but “it was definitely agreed to part ways”.

The pair have since unfollowed each other on Instagram, with Brooke also sharing a second post online explaining the reasons behind their split, and Darvid has remained relatively tight-lipped about the situation - until now.

On Thursday the landscaper surprised his followers when he decided to answer fan questions on Instagram, including one about whether he’d be the 2022 Bachelor.

“I thought this was already announced?” he jokingly replied before addressing the rumours. “Just kidding, no I wouldn’t - that wouldn’t be fair on anyone. Being the lead is a lot more responsibility than being a ‘contestant’.

“Never say never though,” he added.

Darvid also responded to followers asking how he was feeling and what he’s most excited about in 2022.

“If you’d asked me a few weeks ago I would’ve had a different answer,” he wrote. “But I’m okay, I have a lot of things to be thankful for.

“I’m excited for what’s next. Going to take some time to figure out what that is… I’ve lived in Brissy my entire adult life and always worked and/or studied. I appreciate that it’s rare to have a ‘clean slate’. Both daunting and exciting.”

Prior to his split, Darvid had sold his Brisbane landscaping business and put his house on the market, which has since sold for $750,000 at auction.

After a fan asked him if he made these decisions purely to live with Brooke in Melbourne, he revealed that it was all his choice.

“I definitely didn’t have to, nor was I forced in any way,” he said. “Would I still have sold my house? Yes. My business? Probably not.”

Wrapping up the Q&A, Darvid responded to one follower who wondered if he had any regrets going on The Bachelorette seeing as things didn’t work out in the end.

“I’ve been tossing up with this,” he confessed. “Would I do it all again? Every time I’ve hit rock bottom something great has followed shortly after.

“I do believe everything happens for a reason (which I’m yet to figure out, but I’m sure I’ll look back on it fondly). I met some lifelong friends along the way and learnt a lot of valuable lessons.”
