Bachelorette Brooke Blurton blindsided by breakup post: 'Quite overwhelming'

Bachelorette Brooke Blurton has seemingly been blindsided by Darvid Garayeli's post announcing their shock split to the public, revealing in her own statement it was "a surprise to wake up to".

Taking to her Instagram account on Sunday morning, the 27-year-old, who viewers had only watched a month earlier profess her love for Darvid in the emotional Bachelorette finale, shared that the pair had agreed to "part ways" but she was not prepared for his post to social media.

"I just want to say right now I'm finding this really quite overwhelming and just as surprising to me as you guys," Brooke wrote.

"I just woke up to the news. It was definitely agreed to part ways. I just wanted to do it privately, amicably and respectfully."

She continued: "as you can imagine, this is a lot", before also sharing there was "a lot going on" in her world and Darvid's.

"I really do hope you respect some part of what 'privacy' we do have right now, because like I said, this was a surprise to wake up to just as much as it was for you guys," she concluded, adding she would be "tuning out" for now.

Darvid Garayeli shared the news he and Brooke Blurton have "parted ways" in a post to his own Instagram account earlier in the day.

"Starting the new year off with an end to a chapter and hopefully the beginning of another," Darvid wrote.

"Unfortunately Brooke and I have parted ways. Whilst we both genuinely thought we were each others person, things change and that's okay."

He went on to ask people to "respect their privacy" adding "a lot of lessons learned".

Brooke picked her ‘Persian Prince’ Darvid in the emotional final episode of The Bachelorette, which saw former Bachelor star and runner-up Jamie-Lee Dayz left in tears.

Queensland landscaper Darvid had been a fan favourite from the very start, with the 27-year-old being the recipient of the coveted White Rose during the premiere episode.
