Was 'The Bachelorette' canceled? ABC pauses production of reality dating show
A new season of "The Bachelorette" will not air this summer.
ABC stopped production of the female-led "Bachelor" spinoff series, skipping a show cycle for the first time since 2007, Deadline first reported. The last three seasons of "The Bachelorette," including Jenn Tran's season, have aired in early July.
The ABC reality dating series has not officially been canceled, but it was not immediately clear how long the hiatus would last, or when a new "Bachelorette" season would make its on-screen debut.
The decision to pause comes about two weeks after the Season 29 premiere of "The Bachelor" starring Grant Ellis, who was on Tran's season (Season 21) of "The Bachelorette."
Other shows in the "Bachelor" universe have also been paused, or pushed back due to scheduling conflicts, per Deadline. "Bachelor in Paradise" had its spot taken by "The Golden Bachelorette" in September 2024, but it will be the next show in the Bachelor universe to air, according to Deadline.
Here's what we know about "The Bachelorette" hiatus, including who the most recent "Bachelorette" was.

When was the last time 'The Bachelorette' was on hiatus?
According to reporting by Deadline, "The Bachelorette" most recently took a break in 2007, but the show didn't air in 2006, either.
Who was the last 'Bachelorette?'
Tran, a "Bachelor" alumna and the first Asian American "Bachelorette" lead in the show's 22-year history, was the most recent leading lady of "The Bachelorette."
Tran's "Bachelorette" bio described the 27-year-old aspiring physician assistant as "sweet and compassionate woman who has dedicated her life to helping others."
"The bilingual Vietnamese beauty currently resides in Miami and is ready to find love with a man who’s as reliable and thoughtful as she is," the online bio reads.
By the end of Tran's historic season, Bachelor Nation fans and Tran herself thought she had found a match in 28-year-old Devin Strader. But not everything was it seemed after the final rose ceremony in Hawaii.
Tran later revealed that Strader, who allegedly "denied ever being in love," ended their engagement in a 15-minute phone call. In a lengthy Instagram posted a couple days after the season wrapped, Tran vowed to take the high road in her breakup.
"I will always have love for the person I fell in love with and I am choosing to wish him the best in his journey of life and will always root for him," she wrote.
