Ashley Graham Embraced the Drop-waist Trend With Plunging Bach Mai Dress at Golden Globes 2025 for WWD’s Eye on the Red Carpet

Ashley Graham made an entrance on Sunday at the Golden Globes 2025. The model and host of WWD’s red carpet livestream put her own twist on the drop-waist dress trend.

Graham arrived in a plunging custom gown by Bach Mai, sculpted from black silk moiré. Graham’s sleeveless gown dialed up the volume with a full skirt that was cut to her ankles in front and trailed with a train in the back.

She paired her look with black high heel sandals and jewels from Jared Jewelers, including a pair of glittering drop earrings with a diamond and emerald diagonal stripe. Graham was styled by Emily Evans for the occasion.

Graham shared information about her look with WWD ahead of the Golden Globes 2025, while gearing up to host WWD’s livestream. She revealed that her custom Bach Mai gown was made in May for a potential upcoming awards show, and was waiting in her closet for the right moment to wear it. “Now I finally have a reason to wear it!” she said, adding, “I’m going to be doing YouTube tutorials on boob tape beforehand.”

While Graham chose a classic color for her gown, she shared that one of the things she loves seeing most on the red carpet is when stars opt for bold choices. “I appreciate when somebody steps outside of the obvious shimmer or white and black and really goes for it with a bold color choice,” Graham said. “That’s always my favorite because I feel like, wow, there was intention with this color, and also there has to be a confidence to be able to do it as well.”

Graham also discussed her strategy for hosting a red carpet livestream, and chatting with stars about their looks, saying, “I know how these things feel when you’re getting ready, with the nerves and the photos, and you just want somebody there that’s a little bit disarming, that’s just going to have an easy, fun conversation where you can be yourself and vice versa. I like to be on the other side making somebody feel very good and happy about why they’re there.”

“I’m really excited to be doing this with WWD because we get to talk a lot more about fashion,” Graham added. “I feel like being in the fashion world and being so obsessed with the cuts and the colors and the designers and why the actor or actress chose this, those are the conversations that I’m really excited to have.”

WWD’s red carpet livestream at the 2025 Golden Globes kicked off at 6:30 p.m. ET tonight. The pre-show will be available to stream on wwd.com/golden-globes, X, YouTube, LinkedIn and on Amazon Live, and the Amazon Live channel available on Prime Video and FireTV.
