Armie Hammer's mom got him a vasectomy for his birthday

"It's a miracle we don't have a bunch of little Hammers running around," his mother Dru said on his podcast.

Armie Hammer revealed during a long and sometimes alarming conversation with his mother Dru on his podcast that for his last birthday, she gifted him a vasectomy.

"Let's talk about what I gave you for your birthday this year," Dru said playfully. He responded, "What did you give me for my birthday?"

"So I call Armie, and I go, 'Armie, what would you like for your birthday this year?' And he goes, 'Oh, I don't know, maybe money, whatever. And I was like, 'I believe I'm going to give you a vasectomy,'" Dru revealed.

Once a ubiquitous A-list star, Hammer has largely absented himself from the public eye for the past three years. Hammer's first step of retreat came in January 2021, when he quit social media amid an advancing wave of disturbing sexual assault allegations made against him. Two months later, the Call Me By Your Name actor was accused of rape and "other acts of violence" by ex Effie Angelova, with whom he shared a four-year on-and-off relationship.

Further allegations and lawsuits followed, as reports came in that Hammer was in complete exile from Hollywood and selling timeshares on the Cayman Islands. In the last few months, Hammer landed his first film role since the raft of allegations were first leveled against him, and launched the Armie HammerTime Podcast. The two-part conversation between mother and son mark only the second and third episodes of the podcast, and the pair decided to start the second half with a discussion of his vasectomy.

Hammer explained that after he'd scheduled the operation, he met with the facility's receptionist, who asked, "'Are you going to be putting this on insurance?' And I go, 'Oh, actually, I don't have insurance.' She goes, 'What?' I go, 'Yeah, I haven't had insurance for years.' And she was like, 'Oh, okay. Are you going to be putting it on a credit card?' And I go, 'I don't know, my credit cards won't cover this. My mother's going to be calling you, and she's going to be paying for it.' And she was looking down, and she goes, 'What?' And I go, 'Yes, my mother gave me this as a birthday present.'"

"It just was like one of those things," Hammer said, "you could tell she was hearing something she'd never heard, like, 'What are you talking about?' So yeah, my mom got me a vasectomy."

Hammer's mother explained her reasoning: "As the church lady, I would love to say, 'Okay, Armie, I'm really praying that you don't have sex outside of marriage, because unto God, sex is in the purity of a marriage, and all this. But I'm thinking, 'Well, that's not gonna work.'" She said it's "a miracle we don't have a bunch of little Hammers running around," as she knows "there are these young girls that would love to have Armie Hammer's baby."

Hammer joked that there are no children "that she knows of" because he "ate them," referring to allegations made by several women that he both suggested over social media DMs and initiated in person erotic cannibalistic acts and other violent BDSM kink play. The star dismissed these allegations in a July interview with Piers Morgan, saying, "You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to have actually eaten someone."

Hammer's mother laughed off the insinuation too, saying, "Oh, that's right. What was I thinking?"

It was announced in May 2023 that the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office will not file sexual assault charges against the actor, citing "insufficient evidence" and the "complexity of the relationship" between the actor and his accuser.
