Amy Schumer Calls Out “Kinda Pregnant” Critics for Seeking 'More Clicks to Trash Someone, Especially Me'
"I appreciate the bravery to say you like something," Amy Schumer wrote in response to one critic's positive review of 'Kinda Pregnant'
Amy Schumer is highlighting the "bravery" of film critics being positive about her latest project.
The star's newest comedy Kinda Pregnant debuted on Netflix Wednesday, Feb. 5, landing a low 19 percent score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Schumer appeared to respond to the bad reviews in an Instagram post on Thursday, Feb. 6, sharing a favorable mention from Variety's review and saying, "This means a lot to me."
"It gets more clicks to trash someone especially me. If you don’t like physical comedy or you are a single guy who prefers sci fi or sometimes the assignment is to trash something so I appreciate the bravery to say you like something," Schumer wrote in a caption, tagging Variety's critic Owen Gleiberman.
"I hope you are enjoying our movie thanks for all the love everyone including @ogleiberman and @variety," she added.
The film stars Schumer as an English teacher who pretends to be pregnant out of jealousy of her friend Kate’s (Jillian Bell) pregnancy and gets caught up in the lie after she begins dating a new man (Will Forte).

As of Thursday, Feb. 6, Netflix lists Kinda Pregnant as No. 1 on its "Top 10 Movies in the U.S. Today" list. The streamer's charts have been dominated by the Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz action-comedy Back in Action in recent weeks, per Netflix's Tudum website.
The Trainwreck actress co-wrote Kinda Pregnant with screenwriter Julie Paiva, whom producer Molly Sims revealed was her children's first-grade teacher in an Instagram post she shared Feb. 5.
"Something just immediately connected with me when I read the script. I also knew it would resonate with so many women," Sims, 51, wrote. "What I’m most excited about is how real this film feels. Yes, it’s really freaking funny, but it’s also totally unfiltered. A story about women that I don’t think is often shared. The great parts, the scary parts and all of the in between. It doesn’t sugarcoat the wild, emotional ride that is pregnancy and motherhood."
Schumer previously told PEOPLE that Kinda Pregnant, produced by Adam Sandler, is "laugh-out-loud funny and relatable," adding that fans "will cry-laugh watching this movie."
Kinda Pregnant is now on Netflix.
