These comedians all provided lots of laughs, but only one could walk away with the Golden Globe.

Ali Wong beat out Jamie Foxx, Nikki Glaser, Seth Meyers, Adam Sandler and Ramy Youssef to take home the best performance in stand-up comedy on television at the 2025 Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 5. The honor was presented by fellow comedian Nate Bargatze.

"Thank you so much," Wong, who won for Ali Wong: Single Lady, began. "You know, I come from San Francisco, and that's where I started doing stand-up and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all the stage time that I got there and all the practice I got to become a stand-up convener."

"So I really want to thank Molly Schminke from the SF Punchline Comedy Club," she continued. "My best friend is here. Mia, thank you so much for all of your love and support throughout the years. And this means a lot. Thank you so much!"

As the name Single Lady implies, Wong, 42, talks largely about her post-divorce experience in the Netflix special. Wong finalized her divorce from Justin Hakuta, with whom she shares two children and refers to in Single Lady as her “best friend,” in May, listing April 10, 2022 as their date of separation. She has been dating actor Bill Hader on and off since late 2022.

The Beef star describes her special, which earned her her second Golden Globe nomination, as “a different perspective on aging.”

“It's authentic of how I really feel that like aging can't it doesn't have to be depressing it doesn't have to be this like removing and battling everything,” she said on Good Morning America. “Like, it can be really fun in this expansive opening of adventure.”

In his Netflix special What Had Happened Was…, Foxx, 52, shared for the first time the details about his April 2023 medical emergency that led to his hospitalization. The Beat Shazam host revealed he suffered a"brain bleed that led to a stroke" while working on his movie Back in Action in Atlanta.

"Your life doesn’t flash before your face. It was kind of oddly peaceful," Foxx said of being unconscious, adding, “I saw the tunnel. I didn’t see the light. I was in that tunnel, though. It was hot in that tunnel. S---, am I going to the wrong place in this mother------? Because I looked at the end of the tunnel, and I thought I saw the devil like, ‘Come on.’ "

Glaser, who also hosted the 82nd annual Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 5, tackled some dark subject matter in her HBO special Someday You’ll Die, in which she joked about her plans for her death and the realities of infertility and aging.

The FBoy Island host, 40, talked about why she doesn’t want kids, her sexual fantasies and how she’ll use the money she earns from the special for a brow lift as well.

Glaser called being nominated “an afterthought” to her hosting duties. “Honestly, as a host, I'm like, ‘It's funnier if I lose,’" the first-time Golden Globe nominee told Vanity Fair. “I'm going to have a moment after the award is given out, whether I win or lose, where I talk about it. Right? That's a funnier moment.”

Meyers creates plenty of funny moments joking about fatherhood and marriage in his HBO special Dad Man Walking. “I just love doing stand-up because it’s so different — not just in format, but also in the topics,” the Late Night with Seth Meyers host, 51, said to Variety. “There’s something so universal about my family, and it should be noted that even though I bust on them pretty hard, I love talking about them. They’re my favorite people.”

The father of three told TheWrap that, for Dad Man Walking, he made a conscious choice to ditch the political jokes he typically tells on Late Night in favor of family-focused fare, explaining that “all my material comes from” his wife and kids.

“You just want to have as many different outlets for the kind of ideas that occur to you as possible,” Meyers said. “We’ve talked about Documentary Now in the past, but that’s a completely different bucket as well. So, be it stand up or side projects or Late Night, sometimes you come up with a joke and it just doesn’t fit in the thing you’re currently working on. So to have other places and other platforms to try to make it work is really fun.”

Sandler’s Love You consists mostly of sex jokes, with the Big Daddy star, 58, riffing about being tricked into performing oral sex in an airport bathroom and kids walking in on their parents doing the deed. Sandler admitted to Blackbird Spyplane that, despite his decades of comedy experience, his jokes don’t always land with audiences.

“The truth of it is, though, no matter how well the audience knows you, after a minute or two, you still gotta get cooking, or they’ll turn on you,” the two-time Golden Globe nominee said. “It’s happened to me. Last summer I shot up to the Comic Strip at 10:00 one night for no reason. I had nothing to really give, I just said, ‘Let me get on stage, try out some jokes,’ I don’t even know what jokes I was thinking of. And I did not have the best time. The crowd was staring at me, like, ‘Why are you here? Why are you here if you’ve got nothing great to say?’”
