When it comes to big names who brought Brazilian music including bossa nova to the United States and around the world, one of them is Sergio Mendes, who died at the age 83 on Thursday.

Mendes married together his native country's music that exploded in the 1960s with jazz before forming a group -- Sergio Mendes and Brazil '66 -- that hit the charts and exploded.
