Zoe Saldaña Celebrates First Oscar Nomination with Her Sisters, Says “Emilia Pérez” Was 'Made with Love'

"I am truly honored and grateful for the nomination," said the Best Supporting actress nominee

Zoe Saldaña is commemorating a career milestone next to her sisters.

After 25 years in Hollywood with some of the biggest blockbusters under her belt, the star earned her first-ever Oscar nomination on Thursday, Jan. 23: Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Pérez.

"I am truly honored and grateful for the nomination. Thank you so much for considering me for this award. I am thrilled to be among such talented company," Saldaña, 46, wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of herself smiling close to her sisters Cisely and Mariel.

"Emilia Pérez was made with love. Thank you to @theacademy and its members for recognizing our work. Jacques!!!!! BINGO!" she added, giving a shoutout to the director Jacques Audiard, also nominated.

The other Best Supporting Actress nominees with Saldaña this year are Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown), Ariana Grande (Wicked), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist) and Isabella Rossellini (Conclave).

Saldaña won her first Golden Globe Award earlier in January, bringing her mother Asalia Nazario as her guest. She's also nominated this season at the Critics Choice Awards, BAFTA Awards and SAG Awards.

In a recent cover story about Saldaña for Harper's Bazaar's February 2025 issue, director Audiard said the actress "doesn’t really have any weak points."

"What really surprised me with Zoe is her energy and her tireless authority. She worked so hard with just extraordinary courage and talent," said the French filmmaker. "Sometimes I simply couldn’t believe it. It was absolutely marvelous."

With 13 total nods, Emilia Pérez, now streaming on Netflix, is the most-nominated film this year. The movie musical also stars Karla Sofía Gascón — who made history with her Best Actress nomination — Selena Gomez, Édgar Ramírez and Adriana Paz.

The 97th Academy Awards will be held Sunday, March 2 at 7 p.m. ET, airing live on ABC and Hulu.
