Carice van Houten wants you to know that she and Guy Pearce are not an item.

The Game of Thrones actress clarified that she and the Australian actor split a while ago after Pearce called his ex-wife, Kate Mestitz, the "greatest love of my life" before his son came along.

"I've moved on from her now and the greatest love of my life is my child, Monte," Pearce recently told The Guardian.

In a statement shared Wednesday in an Instagram Story (via US Weekly), van Houten said she and Pearce have not been a couple "for years."

"I don't usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but because of a number of conclusions in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear," van Houten wrote. "He and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven't been a 'couple' for years. Sorry not to mention it earlier."

"I am, however, very proud to say we are in a wonderful partnership raising the true love of our lives — our beautiful son and his hamster," she concluded. "The end."

Pearce separated from Mestitz, a psychologist, in early 2015 after 18 years of marriage. He met van Houten on the set of the 2016 psychological Western Brimstone soon after and welcomed his son with the actress — best known for her work on Game of Thrones — that year. Pearce announced his son's arrival on social media: "A cute little package arrived and told us his name's Monte Pearce," he wrote at the time. "We think we're gonna keep him. Placenta smoothie, anyone?"

The actor spoke about the joys of fatherhood in 2021, telling The Independent, "After Monte was born, someone said to me, 'You realize you're now living with your heart on the outside?' And it really is true, isn't it?"

"When I started acting, I knew if I needed to cry that it could come out easily," he added. "Then after 15 years of therapy, I became a far calmer and more satisfied human being, but trying to cry in a scene became impossible. Since having my boy, though, I cry at the drop of a hat again."
