It’s been around for decades.

The last word that’d probably come to mind when you think of a celeb is, well, normal. But honestly, they are very normal people, living very normal lives. They wake up, they grocery shop, they work out, they travel, and they run errands. See, all very normal things! And while their lives do involve lots of glitz and glam, I’d bet big bucks to say they spend the majority of their time away from the camera in very normal clothes. Case in point: Jennifer Garner’s latest outfit.

The actress was photographed out and about in Los Angeles in the most casual outfit ever. She’s known to keep it low-key with her looks—one of the reasons the internet loves her so—but her latest jeans-and-sweater combo is particularly relatable—I even wore it yesterday, too (actually, I wore it all weekend). Garner opted for a patterned blue-and-red sweater, which she paired with the jeans of the year: straight-leg denim. In fact, I just interviewed denim expert Grace Na of Pistola, and among the many divisive styles she called out, straight-leg jeans, the most normal of the bunch, earned a spot in her top five denim trends list for 2025.

Garner rounded out her VNO (very normal outfit) with trusty blue kicks, most likely from Hoka, and a roomy tote that she slung over her shoulders. Both are simple, very low-key essentials I’m sure we all (!!!) have in our closets right now. But, let’s get back to those jeans, because while simple, I think they’re the star of the outfit.

Straight-leg jeans are a must-buy, thanks in large part to their simple, streamlined silhouette that keeps them feeling relevant year after year. Sure, they’re often associated with the ‘90s, because that’s when they were also very popular, but straight-leg denim has had a place in the fashion scene every single decade. Unlike skinny jeans, which have their fair share of hate over the years, straight-leg styles are a humble option that everyone can agree on, which honestly, makes them a breath of fresh air (ahh, aligned).

Straight-leg jeans are the trusty blues you can fall back on, always, so I rounded up some more styles below, inspired by Garner’s pair.
