Zendaya revives millennials' most controversial jeans trend

Zendaya will always be our fashion queen.

The actress and musician has emerged as the ultimate style star thanks to her close working relationship with stylist and image architect Law Roach.

Whether it's taking method dressing to new heights for the Challengers press tour (remember when Z wore a dress featuring a literal tennis ball?) or cosplaying as Cher in a criss-cross, floss halterneck dress by Bob Mackie, the duo have created some looks for the ages.

Understandably, then, Zendaya has become a bit of a darling in the fashion and beauty world, scooping up some major campaigns and magazine covers. She's currently a global ambassador for Louis Vuitton and has appeared in campaigns for the likes of On, Lancôme, Bulgari and Valentino.

Now, she's scooped up another major campaign!! Specifically, she is fronting the reedition of the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.

The collab first launched twenty years ago and, at the time, reimagined LV's iconique monogram accessories in new ways - most memorably in white, with rainbow-coloured LV lettering. Back in the day, anyone who was anyone was rocking that white-and-rainbow LV colourway (or, if you had a more limited budget, a dupe).

Now, it's back, and will launch on New Year's Day. Zendaya will be fronting a new campaign supporting the reissue, with the images already appearing in WWD, alongside the news that she will also appear in two short films for the release.

Murakami himself has expressed his admiration for Zendaya and her inclusion in the campaign, explaining to WWD that he is a fan of her Spiderman and Dune films and opening up in another interview about her unique energy and "power".

"It was supposed to be a capsule collection, pretty small, but when Zendaya appeared, I was like, wow!” Murakami shared with British Vogue. “Her power is completely different, the energy she has is on another level.”

What we couldn't help but notice about this campaign imagery? Aside from Zendaya looking stunning in a simple white tee, blonde braids, a white top handle Louis Vuitton bag with multicoloured LV lettering and a pair of black matching kitten heels, she can be seen wearing a seriously divisive millennial jeans trend.

Nope, we're not talking about skinny jeans here, far from it. Rather, Zendaya is actually wearing the kind of baggy, low-slung, mid-rinse jeans that Gen Z love, with one key difference: these jeans seem seriously long.

Zoom in on the picture, and you'll see that the denim hem on each leg is almost parallel with the tip of Z's stiletto heels, similar to the bootleg cut and XXL length of jeans back in the day.

If you're a millennial, you no doubt have memories of long af bootcut jeans getting stuck under your heel and, as a result, your jean hems getting more and more distressed until they become a mess of raggedy holes.

However, when paired with heels, a slightly longer length of bootcut jean can elongate the leg and gives a kind of laidback, cool girl vibe – which is definitely what Zendaya is embodying here.

So, hate to break it to you but, if something's been spotted on Zendaya, it almost inevitably becomes a trend. Are you ready for the return of XXL length, bootcut denim?
