Princess Charlotte Broke Royal Protocol at Sandringham Christmas Walk in the Sneakiest Way
And it's not the first time she's done it, either.
Princess Charlotte might only be 9-years-old, but that doesn't mean she isn't old enough to break royal protocol from time to time when the opportunity presents itself.
Charlotte, alongside her mom and dad, Prince William and Kate Middleton, and brother Prince George and Prince Louis, walked at Sandringham on Christmas Day, greeting and meeting with fans ahead of the event's respective church service. Instead of simply saying hello to the royal admirers, Charlotte went one step further and broke royal protocol by taking selfies with fans.
According to Hello!, Charlotte stopped "to take a selfie with a lady before she accepted gifts of flowers and chocolates from other members of the public. Charlotte beamed with a sweet smile as she posed alongside the royal fan for the photograph."
The Sandringham Christmas walk isn't the only time that Charlotte has posed for a selfie—after attending the Eras Tour alongside William and George, the pop star took a photo with the royals, in which Charlotte could be seen beaming a wide grin. "Princess Charlotte is the huge Taylor Swift fan in the family. She has wanted to go to the concert for months, but with her mum being treated for cancer, this was a really special day to be able to celebrate her Papa's birthday like this," a source told Entertainment Tonight at the time.
Selfies aren't typically practiced by the royal family—"While there is no royal rule regarding selfies, it is generally discouraged for members of the Royal Family to pose for selfies," the Express explained in October—but in recent years, William, Middleton and even Queen Camilla have been easing back on the rule in favor of having a more intimate relationship with royal observers and fans.
