Why Savannah Guthrie Thinks Hoda Kotb 'Would Be an Amazing Cult Leader'
While Hoda Kotb is no longer on Today, it seems her influence continues, something that Savannah Guthrie claimed makes her a perfect fit for an interesting position.
Guthrie and Craig Melvin, who took Kotb's position when she left, sat down for a conversation with Andy Cohen for a SiriusXM TODAY Show Radio town hall, with the group eventually getting around to the topic of Kotb.
In a video clip shared on Instagram, Melvin explained how much influence Kotb had—and possibly continues to have—over her co-hosts and friends.
"Hoda's one of these people," he started, before launching into an example to better explain it. "She would come in on a Monday, and she'd be like, 'Have you heard the Shaboozey song? Have you?' And she's like playing it nonstop. And next thing you know, you're listening to Shaboozey."
Melvin shared another example of her influence, noting that Kotb moved to the suburbs and "she was recruiting actively, everyone to move out there just to be where she was."
Guthrie sat beside Melvin, agreeing with what he was saying before she cut in to boldly declare, "She would be an amazing cult leader," with Melvin confirming, "Oh my god! The best!"

The two Today hosts continued sharing Kotb's little influences on their lives, such as going to her acupuncturist and her shaman, with Guthrie even claiming Kotb influenced her choice of vehicle.
Fans seemed to be supportive of Kotb as a potential "cult leader," with one writing enthusiastically in the comments, "I am fully onboard with following Hods everywhere! She is such an inspiration!!"
"Cult leader Hoda! Totally!" said another, as someone else chimed in, "Sign me up for the @hodakotb cult!"
Kotb announced her departure from Today last year, and her final day on the show was on Jan. 10. Luckily, Kotb recently revealed that she won't be completely gone from Today, noting that she'll likely appear for big events like the Olympics.
