"Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage," Simpson told the outlet. "Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."

Back in November, a source told People that Simpson had been splitting her time between Los Angeles and Nashville to work on new music. "She's working on music and splits her time between Los Angeles and Nashville. Eric spends all of his time in L.A., where the kids go to school," the source said at the time. "Jess and Eric very much live separate lives."
