Jessica Simpson Reveals Split from Eric Johnson in Emotional Statement, Calling It a "Painful Situation"
Jessica Simpson and her husband Eric Johnson have split up after 10 years of marriage. Rumors have been swirling about the former couple's relationship status for a while now due to them both being seen without wedding rings, but Jess confirmed the news herself in an official statement.
"Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” she told Us Weekly. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."
Back in November, a source told the outlet that Jessica and Eric were “living separately right now,” while another insider said they were “trying to figure out a separation without disrupting their kids’ lives as much as possible” and are “still figuring things out.” Meanwhile, another source said, “Jessica is heartbroken,” that the split had been an “an incredibly difficult time,” and that it was "not an easy decision for her."
On top of that, TMZ reported that “two people directly connected to Jessica” spoke to divorce lawyers on her behalf: “Late last month, someone close to Jessica went to a Los Angeles divorce attorney and said Jessica was unhappy in her marriage and wanted to arrange a meeting with the attorney and Simpson.”
Jessica and Eric have been together since 2010, and got married in 2014. They have three children: Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie.
