Viola Davis Brings the Drama in Shimming Dress and See-Through Rainbow Cape for Golden Globes 2025 Red Carpet

Viola Davis embraced her moment on the red carpet at the Golden Globes 2025 in Los Angeles on Sunday. The venerated actress is the recipient of the 2025 Cecil B. DeMille Award at this year’s ceremony, honoring her contributions to the entertainment industry.

Davis gravitated toward a style she’d worn for another recent high-profile occasion. The EGOT award-winner wore a dramatic shimmering black gown with a cape that featured subtle rainbow accents throughout.

The “Fences” Oscar-winning actress previously styled a similarly theatrical look for The Golden Gala: An Evening of Excellence on Friday. The actress wore a custom Dior pink gown with Chopard jewelry. The dress featured flowing long sleeves, which created an illusion, cape-like effect. She was styled by Elizabeth Stewart.

At the 2024 LACMA Art+Film Gala in November, Davis embraced the cape trend once again. She wore a custom shimmering black gown with a sheer cape by Gucci, which included all-over sparkles.

Much like her 2025 Golden Globe Awards attire, Davis’s LACMA Gala gown brought plenty of drama, along with a fitted silhouette, defined waist and plunging neckline for added effect.
