Vanessa Lachey Reveals She Was a Fan of *NSYNC, Not 98 Degrees. Here's What Husband Nick Lachey Had to Say About It

Vanessa Lachey wasn't always a fan of her husband's music.

During a Monday, Feb. 10 appearance on the TODAY show, the Love Is Blind hosts chatted about her music taste in the 1990s and Vanessa, 44, revealed that she wasn't a fan of Nick Lachey's band 98 Degrees.

While playing a game where Vanessa, Nick, 51, and the talk show hosts sip out of golden goblets of champagne à la Love Is Blind, Al Roker told the group to "take a sip if you were a 98 Degrees fan in the '90s."

When Vanessa didn't take a sip while her husband did, Craig Melvin called her out. "Are you kidding me, Vanessa?"

"Listen, I love him for him, not because I was a groupie," she responded, while Nick insisted that she's a "huge fan" now.

Melvin, 45, then asked what music Vanessa was listening to in the '90s, if not 98 Degrees. The answer? *NSYNC. "I can’t believe you just admitted that!" correspondent Savannah Sellers said, jokingly surprised.

Vanessa responded, "You make it seem like I was cheating on my husband!" Nick added, "It’s how I know she loves me for me."

"Obviously, love is deaf," Roker, 70, quipped.

98 Degrees formed in 1997, made up of bandmates Jeff Timmons, Justin Jeffre and Nick and his brother Drew Lachey.

Known for their songs "Because of You" and "I Do (Cherish You)," the group recently recreated the cover for their 2000 single "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)" for its 25th anniversary. They most recently released a new song titled "Got U" in January.

Nick and Vanessa met in the early 2000s on the set of Total Request Live — years after the formation of Nick's band. They got married in 2011 and started hosting Love Is Blind, the reality dating series on Netflix in 2020.

Love Is Blind season 8 premieres on Netflix on Friday, Feb. 14.
