“Vanderpump Rules” Is Being Rebooted! Bravo Scraps Entire Cast in Favor of New Group for Season 12
"In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules," Lisa Vanderpump said
It’s a fresh start for Vanderpump Rules.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Bravo announced VPR had been renewed for season 12 — but the upcoming season will look different from past years. According to the press release, a new cast will take over Lisa Vanderpump’s West Hollywood ventures as servers, hosts and bartenders at SUR and TomTom.
“The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between,” Vanderpump, 64, said in the release. “I can’t thank enough those who have shared their lives. How I love you all. In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules.”
Alex Baskin, executive producer of the show’s production company 32 Flavors, wrote: “What a thrill it is to build on the legacy of this series by doing it all over again. With profound appreciation for the original group and their iconic run, we can’t wait for the audience to see a dynamic new group of co-workers and friends make their way through life together."
It is unclear when the new cast or premiere date will be released, but PEOPLE has learned that former VPR stars Lala Kent, Scheana Shay and Tom Schwartz will make appearances on The Valley, which follows Brittany Cartwright, Jax Taylor and Kristen Doute — among others — who got their start on VPR.
VPR first premiered on Bravo in 2013, starring Doute, Shay, Taylor, Schwartz, Katie Maloney, Tom Sandoval, Stassi Schroeder, Peter Madrigal, Mike Shay, Laura-Leigh, Frank Herlihy and Ariana Madix. Over the years, cast members have come and gone, with others like Cartwright, Kent, and Rachel Leviss starring on the series.
Fans began speculating that the show had been canceled when filming for season 12 was delayed over the summer, but PEOPLE confirmed Bravo still planned to bring the series back at the time.
Seasons 10 and 11 also followed an altered filming schedule after the bombshell news that cast members Leviss and Sandoval were having an affair while Sandoval was involved in a decade-long relationship with Madix.

On May 1, Andy Cohen explained that hiatuses are not uncommon in the Bravo world when a major event has happened, saying on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live in May that "we used to do this all the time with the Housewives."
"We would say, 'You know what? Let's put cameras down for, you know, four or five months and come back to them.' And they will have lived life. Things will be different," Cohen said.
Vanderpump further confirmed with E! News that the show would not be going anywhere.
"Vanderpump Rules is on hiatus just for a little bit," the Vanderpump Rules namesake said. “Let it breathe. I think we were going around in circles for a little bit."
Rumors continued to swirl as time passed, however, and Kent recently added fuel to the chatter when she revealed she no longer speaks to most of the cast on a Nov. 19 episode of Watch What Happens Live.
"I burned a lot of bridges," the reality TV star, 34, told Cohen, the host.
Cohen then named several of Kent’s past costars, asking if she was in contact with any of them. She joked that Sandoval texts her but she doesn’t often respond, she had to block Taylor and she and Madix “don't speak.”
"She's killing it and I'm thrilled about it,” she said. “And I mean it!"
Kent added that she hasn't talked to Madix, 39, nor Maloney, 37, since the VPR season 11 reunion, which aired in May.
