Truth behind Kylie Minogue's baffling Neighbours moment
The truth behind why Kylie Minogue did not talk in the final episode of Neighbours has been revealed after fans were baffled by her appearance.
Kylie reprised her role as Charlene Scott alongside on-screen husband Jason Donovan, who played Scott Robinson, in the emotional 90-minute episode.
Neighbours teased the popstar's cameo for months, so fans were surprised when she barely had any lines during the episode.
Many speculated she could not hide her English accent while others joked Neighbours had blown their budget so they couldn't afford to give her any lines.
Speaking to TV Tonight, executive producer Jason Herbison revealed what really happened.
“Our discussions with Jason and Kylie were always about making a small appearance," he said.
"They didn’t want to overshadow the current cast or make the finale about them. We also filmed their scenes before I’d written the episode, so whatever we filmed had to fit in with that. I hate to see Kylie copping any criticism – she was nothing short of amazing on the day."

There have also been rumours the Neighbours set is being demolished, however the executive producer rubbished the claims.
"We haven't made any decisions about the sets and nothing has been demolished," he said.
“We are in the fortunate position of having the Nunawading studios for several more months and we will be utilising the site for other productions, including Riptide, which is currently being filmed. This gives us plenty of time to make provisions.”
Neighbours wrapped up last week after 37 years on our screens. It ended with Susan Kennedy, played by Jackie Woodburne, offering an emotional monologue about life on Ramsay Street.
It was announced the show would be cancelled in March after the network was unable to secure alternative funding following the axing of the series by UK’s Channel 5.
Following the last episode, Neighbours tweeted a finale photo from the set with the caption: "Thanks for loving us, we love you."
