Neighbours' Ryan Moloney reveals surprise career move: 'Who knows’

Neighbours is coming to an end after 37 years on the air, and actor Ryan Moloney has just revealed his surprise career move.

Ryan, who plays Toadie Rebecchi on the soap, is considering leaving acting behind to go into civil construction.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the 42-year-old admitted he’s not ‘ruling anything out’, telling them: “I’m doing [a] civil construction course which is about driving excavators and building roads.”

“I like playing with those kinds of machines. I like doing earthworks, all that kind of manual labour stuff. That’s where I’m at, but who knows where it’s all going to end up?” he continued.

The star actually has a commercial pilot's licence, and was working towards becoming an Air Force pilot before he landed his role on Neighbours.

Ryan was only supposed to be a guest star on the soap, with his initial booking being for just one episode.

Due to Toadie’s popularity, Ryan has now been playing the role for a mammoth 27 years.

“To be a working actor in Australia with consistent work is incredibly special. And I have a large dose of gratitude towards life into what is created,” he reflects.

Neighbours announces returning cast

This comes after Neighbours announced that Margot Robbie, Delta Goodrem, Kym Valentine, Jesse Spencer and Carla Bonner will appear in the finale.

The show will tie up loose ends in a dramatic 90-minute episode, airing on Channel 10 on Thursday, July 28.

Superstar Kylie Minogue previously gave fans a first look at her cameo on the show, posting two photos with her on-screen partner Jason Donovan.

The pair played Scott Robinson and Charlene Mitchell, with their wedding in 1987 considered one of Neighbours’ most iconic moments.

Reportedly, the couple drive a green mini on Ramsay Street, with Scott and Charlene declaring they’re home.

Fans were overjoyed with the list of stars coming back, but it’s a ‘bittersweet’ week for many.

“So glad Jesse Spencer is coming back for the finale of Neighbours. I’m currently watching him starring in Chicago Fire. It’s going to be an emotional week,” one fan wrote.
