Tom Holland Hinted at 'Secret' Holiday Plans with Zendaya's Family Prior to Engagement News
In December, the British actor shared that he would be spending Christmas in the U.S. with Zendaya and her family
Tom Holland teased that he had "secret" holiday plans with Zendaya and her family just weeks before the couple's engagement news broke.
During an appearance on the Dec. 18th episode of the Dish podcast, the Spider Man actor, 28, revealed that he would be spending the holiday season with the Euphoria star, also 28, and her loved ones in the U.S. "I'll be with my girlfriend's family, which will be fun. Where we'll be is a secret," he said at the time, joking, "[Secret] to you guys. I'll know where we're going."
Holland also shared his hope that the pair could bring both of their families together for Christmas in 2025 and even make it a yearly tradition. "That's what I think we want to do," he said. "This time, because we're both actors, we're terrible at organizing things, so it hasn't happened yet. The thought's there. The idea has been planted."

As it turns out, the holidays were extra magical for the couple this year. On Monday, Jan. 6, multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Holland and Zendaya are engaged. According to TMZ, which was first to report the news, Holland popped the question to his now-fiancée in an intimate proposal at one of her family's homes between Christmas and New Year's.
A source told PEOPLE the milestone moment was one that Holland had long been anticipating. "Tom's been wanting to propose for a while," the insider said, adding, "He's always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one. They have something very special."

According to the source, "everyone" close to the couple "knew an engagement was happening" sometime soon. After Holland proposed — and Zendaya said "yes!" — the Crowded Room star shared the happy news with friends around New Year's.
"Tom's always had this sweet way of letting the world know that Zendaya is his. Now, it's official — she really is!" the source noted. They added that the two plan to take their time and "just enjoy things for now" rather than "rush a wedding."
Zendaya seemingly debuted her new engagement ring while attending the 2025 Golden Globes in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 5. As she walked the red carpet in a glamorous custom burnt orange satin dress from Louis Vuitton, the Dune star offered a glimpse of the massive diamond sparkler, which she wore on her left hand ring finger.
The ring appears to be a 5.02-carat East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back Ring by Jessica McCormack. The apparent design, which is listed in the engagement ring section on the jewelry brand's website, features a cushion-cut stone set on an 18-karat white and yellow gold band.
Holland and Zendaya, who have played on-screen couple Peter Parker and Michelle "MJ" Jones in the Spider-Man movie franchise since 2017's Homecoming — confirmed their real-life romance in July 2021 after they were seen kissing in a car. Months later, in September 2021, Holland officially debuted their relationship on Instagram, sharing a selfie to mark Zendaya's 25th birthday as he lovingly called her "my MJ."
