Today's 'brutal' Instagram swipe at Ally Langdon divides fans: 'Rude'
Today’s official Instagram account has taken a savage swipe at Allison Langdon just one day after it was announced that she would be leaving the program to host A Current Affair.
The breakfast show shared a photo of Allison standing alongside Karl Stefanovic and her successor Sarah Abo on Monday, however, Ally has been almost entirely cropped out.
“Out with the old, in with the new,” the caption read. “Welcome to the team Sarah!”
Although the post was clearly meant to be lighthearted, similar to Karl’s digs at Ally throughout the show, some people took to the comments to share their disapproval.
“Rude photo,” one person replied, followed by another who added, “Wow that’s aggressive”.
“That’s a real awful send off!” a third commented, with someone else writing, “What an appalling headline! Perhaps some well wishes to Ally would be more appropriate?”
“Wow that’s bad that Ally has been cropped out,” another remarked, while others said the post was “insensitive”, “horrid” and “brutal”.

However, there were plenty of people who appreciated the humour in the photo and called it “hilarious”.
“The photo crop is the best!” a fan commented, with someone else adding, “Typical Aussie humour”.
“This has me giggling,” another remarked, while a different user said, “This photo is pretty funny! That’s something I would do”.
Ally announced as new ACA host
Following months of speculation, Ally was finally announced as the new host of A Current Affair on Sunday evening.
Channel Nine shared the news that Ally, who has been hosting the network’s breakfast program for the past three years, will step into her new role on Monday, January 30, 2023.
“It is such an incredible honour to be joining the A Current Affair team. A show I love, respect and have been watching since I was in school and Jana Wendt was host,” Ally said in a statement.
“I won't lie – it's daunting to be stepping into the role that Tracy has so brilliantly navigated for the past 17 years, with such warmth and compassion. I hope to bring my own warmth and compassion to the show as we continue to tell great stories that matter to our amazing viewers.”

Ally went on to add that she understands it will be “a big change” for both the show’s audience and herself.
“There is great sadness at leaving my brilliant Today Show family, in particular my co-host Karl, who has made these past three years so wonderful and fun, although I won't miss that 3am alarm!” she continued. “Instead, I'll enjoy being woken by the kids, walking them to school and daycare before ripping in at work.
“I love what A Current Affair is, and what it stands for. It's a show that is in my family's DNA, as it was for my father-in-law, the late Mike Willesee Snr, who started A Current Affair back in the early 70s. Each host has brought their own style to the show and I hope to do the same but at its core, A Current Affair is about those at home who tune in each night. It's their show, their stories we share, and injustices we help fight.”
