Today guest takes subtle swipe at Karl Stefanovic over Michael Clarke brawl

The TV host was left red-faced by the remark.

Today host Karl Stefanovic was put in an awkward situation on Thursday morning when a guest on the breakfast show made a reference to his involvement in the now-infamous Michael Clarke brawl in Noosa.

Karl was wrapping up a segment with Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism & Transport Forum Margy Osmond when he asked about her plans for the Easter long weekend.

“Well, what are you doing for Easter?” she asked, turning the question onto him.

“Going to Noosa, you know,” he said, to which Margy cheekily replied, “Ah, what could go wrong?”.

She then burst into laughter as Karl awkwardly looked around and gave a sheepish reaction into the camera.

“Fair point,” he remarked.

The camera then cut to Karl’s co-host Sarah Abo, who was holding a sheet of paper in front of her face to hide her own laughter.

“Ooh,” she said with a grimace. “Yes, what could go wrong Karl?”

What happened in Noosa?

A video went viral in January of former cricketer Michael Clarke arguing with his then-girlfriend Jade Yarbrough about whether or not he cheated on her with his ex Pip Edwards, as Karl and his wife Jasmine (Jade's sister) tried to calm the pair down.

Karl was defending Jade in the fight, who could be heard yelling at Michael: “You f**ked her on December 17 … You f**ked her, you’re a f**king dog.”

Michael addressed Karl towards the end of the video, saying: “Karlos, don't you f***ing walk away.”

The heated altercation occurred earlier this year during a holiday in Noosa and made headlines nationwide when The Daily Telegraph published the video.

Michael, who was seen in the clip without a shirt and limping badly after seemingly injuring his leg, made a statement about the altercation when it was first reported but hasn’t addressed it since.

“My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable,” he told The Telegraph. “I accept full responsibility for this altercation and am shattered by my actions.”
