Today's Karl Stefanovic takes brutal swipe at The Project live on-air
Karl Stefanovic was interviewing Nicholas Braun about the final season of Succession.
Today host Karl Stefanovic has sledged Channel 10’s The Project, following Sarah Harris' awkward interview with Succession star Nicholas Braun on Sunday night. The star, who plays cousin Greg on the Binge show, was interrupted during his story about an encounter with Quentin Tarantino.
Instead of letting the Sky High star finish his story, the hosts wrapped him up so the channel could play a pre-recorded interview with Kerri-Anne Kennerley about I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! instead. On Tuesday, the 34-year-old sat down with the Today hosts and had a laugh about his botched interview with Channel 10.
“Look, you didn’t get the opportunity…I know you have a wonderful Quentin Tarantino story, unfortunately you haven’t been able to share it yet, with the media in Australia,” Karl quipped with a smile on his face.
“We’ve got time, this is our show, goddammit. Can you share that story with us?”
Nicholas enjoyed the banter, and told the hosts to prepare for an extremely long and ‘detailed’ tale. Karl pretended to interrupt the star and wrap up the interview, sending the entire studio into stitches.
The Hollywood actor then launched into his quirky story from when he was 21, after he recognised the famous director on a plane.

“I went to my seat, and I was like, I have to do something,” he explained to the hosts. “I’d just been in this Disney Channel movie, and I was on the back of a magazine.”
The young actor then ripped his photo from the “teenybopper magazine” and rushed up to the director.
“I gave it to Quentin, and I was just like, ‘That’s me there! That’s me! I'm in this movie, and watch it if you have Disney Channel!’. It felt like so stupid, but I was like, I have to do something.
“And his response was, ‘Hopefully we work together someday’. I think I tried to get his email the next day, but nobody would give it to me,” he finished.
The actor also touched on how “shocking” it is to be thrust into the spotlight, with fans often recognising him on the street.
“People watch it and they love Greg. Sometimes, you know, someone will just come up to me and go, ‘Hey Greg!’. And I’m like, I’m a guy, I’m a person behind Greg,” he added.
However, he told the hosts that he loved playing Greg on Succession, and had ‘mixed’ feelings about it coming to an end.
“We’ve been doing it for six and a half years, and it’s been the best job of my life. And yet, this is the story of it, feels like okay, it should end. It’s final in a way,” he said.
