Today host Karl Stefanovic's subtle dig at Michael Clarke: 'Complaining'

The Today Show's Karl Stefanovic and his co-hosts have taken several subtle digs at Michael Clarke after the infamous video of him arguing with his girlfriend, Jade Yarbrough, went viral last week.

The video showed Michael and Jade arguing over whether or not the former cricketer cheated on her with his ex Pip Edwards, as Karl and his wife, Jasmine Yarbrough (Jade's sister), tried to calm the pair down. The altercation took place earlier this year at a park in Noosa in Queensland.

In the video, Michael is seen limping after injuring his hamstring during the scuffle and yelling at "Karlos" for trying to help Jade leave.

Karl has not made an official statement about the footage but threw in a few subtle jokes about the scandal into the show on Monday morning, repeatedly referring to his "hammy'.

"You can just pull a hammy by sitting down. Hot cream, please," he said at one point, leaning over the desk and clutching his leg.

His co-host Sarah Abo also joined the joke, adding, "He was just sitting there and now he’s standing up complaining about a hamstring injury."

Later in the show, sports presenter Alex Cullen reported on Novak Djokovic's Australian Open hamstring injury, saying, "All of this talk about Novak’s hamstring has made me really want to stretch mine."

"I fear I won’t be able to get out of this position with my very tight pants. Very tight pants."

"It is all about the deep heat. I have seen that kind of injury before," Karl added before weather presenter Tim Davies joined in on the fun.

"Karlos, it is all about pulling your hammy at the moment. It is very on-trend these days," Tim said.

Michael appeared on the radio airwaves on Monday morning as he returned to Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast show after his annual leave, but he didn't speak about the incident.

However, the former cricketer's co-host Gerard Middleton did mention the "enormous fascination around Clarkey's life".

"It is a private matter that Clarkey’s obviously been dealing with, a very, very private matter which unfortunately was made public," he said. "There’s a lot of factors in play here and Clarkey’s made his statement last week and due to all the factors in play we are moving forward on The Big Sports Breakfast this morning."

They mention Michael's hamstring injury, with Gerard adding, "You won’t be able to walk properly for weeks."

Michael made a statement about the altercation last week and hasn't addressed it further since.

"I'm absolutely gutted I've put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable," he told the Daily Telegraph last Wednesday. "I am shattered that because of my actions I've drawn women of class and integrity, and my mates, into this situation."
