The four words that could 'haunt' Michael Clarke after cheating scandal

Four words spoken by Aussie cricket great Michael Clarke during a public altercation with his girlfriend and Today host Karl Stefanovic could come back to haunt him.

A video published by The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday showed Michael in a wild public altercation with his girlfriend Jade Yarbrough and Karl in a park in Noosa.

He could be seen arguing with Jade, the sister of Karl's wife Jasmine, as she accused him of cheating on her, reportedly with his ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards.

During the altercation, the cricket great can be heard denying he cheated on Jade, saying twice: "On my daughter's life".

On Wednesday night he addressed the incident, telling The Daily Telegraph: "My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable."

"I accept full responsibility for this altercation and am shattered by my actions."

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford told Sunrise on Thursday morning the words used by Michael during the scuffle could impact his reputation.

"Certainly Jade is of the belief Michael Clarke cheated on her [on December 17] and that's why she is so upset," he told the breakfast program.

"Michael doesn't come out of it well at all.

"To his credit, he owns it and accepts full responsibility but he used four words that I think are going to haunt him and I think it goes to his character, or what people will perceive of his character where he twice says, 'On my daughter's life, it's not true' and now, of course, he is indicating it was true.

"You don't pull out that card and use that card unless it really is true."

Pip, who dated Clarke in 2020 before splitting at the end of 2021, told The Daily Telegraph in a statement she was unaware of the scuffle occurring in Noosa.

"This is not my circus," she said. "Yet again, Michael in his true nature has not taken responsibility for his actions and I was blatantly lied to."

The publication reports Michael and Jade were introduced through Karl and they began dating eight months after the former Australia cricket captain split from Pip.
