The 'Tinkerbell pixie' is set to be the biggest spring 2025 hair trend
Girl, do not react – no, you are not the saboteur, but super short hair is about to be one of, if not thee, biggest beauty trend of 2025... OK fine, you can yelp.
It's no secret that the pixie haircut has had a tough rep (Karen, I'm looking @ you). Not many people feel they can rock such a daringly short style, however, spring 2025 is about to prove otherwise, as Tom Smith, hairstylist, trend forecaster and contributing Cosmopolitan expert predicts.
"We saw a running theme throughout 2024 of people cutting their hair shorter – mostly from very long to bob length," Tom says. "That, combined with Emma Stones's statement pixie crop in January meant that it was only a matter of time before the hunger for shorter hair piqued."
Most recently, we've seen celebrities including Julia Fox, Gabrielle Union, Julia Garner and even Gen Z 'it girl' Emma Chamberlain sport iterations of the shorter 'do and it's one that Tom has coined the 'Tinkerbell pixie'.
The Tinkerbell pixie, as Tom explains, is on the longer side of the head-hugging shape and incorporates a subtle asymmetry and side parting. "This makes it a flattering choice for many as the longer hair at the front provides a softening to the face," Tom says.
So, if, like many, you fear that short hair will read 'boyish', why not try the Tinkerbell pixie; it has a flattering femininity that you just don't get with a boy crop.
And not only that but due to the style's varying lengths, it makes for minimal upkeep; The shorter cut around the ears contrasts with the longer strands around the nape of the neck, meaning that even when it grows, it will retain a chic shape. So, in other words, it's great for low-maintenance girlies!
Are you convinced? Well, if not now, you will be when the style goes mainstream... You heard it here first!
