Timothée Chalamet Movie ‘Marty Supreme’ Set For Christmas Day 2025
More counterprogramming for next year’s Christmas Day as A24 is opening their 1950s ping-pong ball champ movie Marty Supreme starring Timothée Chalamet.
Yesterday we reported that Lionsgate was putting their Paul Feig directed thriller The Housemaid with Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried on Christmas Day, which will be an Avatar: Fire & Ash-filled holiday as that James Cameron threequel opens the weekend prior on Dec. 19 along with an untitled Warner Bros movie and an untitled SpongeBob Squarepants movie from Paramount.

Gwyneth Paltrow To Star Opposite Timothée Chalamet In A24’s ‘Marty Supreme’
Also opening Christmas Day is Amazon MGM Studios’ Sarah’s Oil, an untitled Angel Studios movie and an untitled Universal event feature.
The Josh Safdie directed movie was written by him and Ronald Bronstein. Pic also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler the Creator, Fran Drescher, Penn Jillette, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary (aka Mr Wonderful), Abel Ferrera and Sandra Bernhard. Andreas Wiseman reported that Marty Supreme carries a production cost of $70M, making the project the most expensive new package on sale at the latest AFM. Marty Supreme is also A24’s joint most-expensive production to date alongside Dwayne Johnson starrer The Smashing Machine, which is in post-production.
This year Searchlight has a Chalamet movie in James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown about Bob Dylan on Christmas Day. We hear that presales are strong for that wide release at $1M which is eyeing a $15M 5-day opening.
The movie was rumored to be a biopic about iconoclastic ping-pong player Marty Reisman, and now we’re hearing it’s not exactly that. More loosely based. The pic is being billed as a cross between Wolf of Wall Street and Catch Me If You Can. Producers on it are Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, Bronstein, Safdie, Chalamet and A24.
