Man's mum yells 'no' as he gets ready to propose in TikTok video

A man’s proposal has gone viral on TikTok after his mum could be heard yelling ‘no’ in the background before he was about to get down on one knee.

In a video which has so far been viewed over 9.5 million times on the social media site, @catdadadan is seen looking up at his girlfriend, who is standing on a wall overlooking a stunning hilltop landscape.

However, in the background, his mother can just be heard saying “no” while his dad continues to film the whole thing.

“To the girl I was going to propose to, but my mom put a stop to it…” he wrote on the video.

He also captioned the footage: “My dad didn’t know what to do, so he just kept recording.”

TikTok users were shocked, with one person commenting: “She got lucky then. Who wants to marry someone that lets mom pick out their wife?”

“What are you - a child,” another person commented, with a third writing: “Lucky girl. Dodged a bullet.”

But all wasn’t as it seems, as he later uploaded a follow-up video, saying that while he didn’t propose at that moment, they did eventually get engaged and even posed for photos on that wall.

Another video also showed him revealing the viral TikTok video to his mum, who couldn’t stop laughing at it.
