The Project host breaks down live on air while discussing devastating Bondi attacks
Rachel Corbett spoke about deceased mother Ashlee Good whose baby girl was also stabbed.
During a subdued episode of The Project on Sunday night, the hosts reported on the horrific events of the stabbing attack at Westfield Bondi Junction which left six people dead and several more injured.
The attacks took place on Saturday afternoon as 40-year-old knifeman Joel Cauchi began attacking shoppers at the busy retail complex. In a truly horrifying act, Cauchi stabbed 38-year-old first-time mum Ashlee Good and her nine-month-old baby girl. Ashlee later died from her injuries at St Vincent's Hospital after selflessly handing her child over to strangers and asking them to help her. The baby is in a critical but stable condition.
Speaking about the unthinkable tragedy, host and new mum Rachel Corbett broke down saying, "It is so hard to do shows on nights like this. Never in this country do we go to the shops and think something like this can happen."
She continued, "You feel like you are 100 per cent safe when you are wandering around a shopping centre. I just cannot stop thinking about that poor poor baby and the father who now doesn't have his partner. This will impact her life and the lives of people who have been impacted for the rest of their lives. It's just so, so hard."
